Warehouse jobs in autumn. Peak season starts in September

2026-08-12 Kategoria: About HR Work

The warehouse season does not start in December. The first recruitment campaigns begin as early as September, when online retailers and logistics operators start building up stock for the autumn season. Candidates who apply early have a wider choice of shifts, locations, and positions.

Below, we explain how the seasonal recruitment calendar works, which positions are most commonly available, and what you should prepare to start work without unnecessary delays.

When does the season start?

The pre-Christmas peak lasts for several months, with different areas of the warehouse becoming busier at different stages.

  • September: receiving goods and replenishing stock,
  • October: increasing order volumes and the first major sales campaigns,
  • November: Black Friday and the highest workload in packing and shipping,
  • December: the pre-Christmas peak, with two- or three-shift work,
  • January: returns and year-end inventory checks.

For candidates, this means one thing: recruitment runs from September to December, but the best offers are usually filled early in the season. By November, the choice of locations and convenient shifts is already much more limited.

Which positions are most commonly available?

  • order picking from a list or using a scanner,
  • packing and preparing parcels for shipment,
  • sorting parcels in courier sorting centres,
  • receiving goods and replenishing warehouse locations,
  • quality control and checking deliveries,
  • forklift operation for candidates with UDT certification.

Most of these positions do not require previous experience. You will learn your duties during the first days of work under the supervision of a team leader.

Why is it worth applying in September?

The first reason is practical. Before your first shift, you may need to complete a medical examination, health and safety training, and the required employment paperwork. In autumn, waiting times for medical appointments may increase because many people start work at the same time.

The second reason is the wider choice of working conditions. Applying early gives you a better chance of choosing between day and night shifts, different locations, and offers with or without accommodation. By December, these options are much more limited.

Overtime and night shifts during the season

In autumn, warehouses often offer additional working hours. The rules for payment depend on the type of contract and the conditions stated in your employment documents. It is also worth checking the terms for night work in advance.

Before signing your contract, check how additional hours are calculated, whether Sunday work is planned, and when your salary will be paid. These conditions can have a significant impact on how much you actually earn during the season.

What should you prepare before recruitment?

  • an identity document and documents allowing you to work legally in Poland,
  • a PESEL number, if you already have one,
  • a bank account number for salary payments,
  • information about your availability, including when you can start and which shifts you can work,
  • UDT certification if you want to work as a forklift operator.
